The documents along with the form can be brought to our Enrollment Services window during business hours or sent via email to Enrollment Services at enrollmentservices@6lwboc.com for processing. Submit copies of legal documents via your TCC email account, which is the primary form of communication with the college.

Outside of business hours, you can also drop copies of the documents at our drop box located on the East side of building 7, next to parking lot J. Documentation must include previous and current legal name.

Requests have a processing time of two business days.

  • Marriage Certificate or License
  • Original Birth Certificate and Current Driver's License
  • Certified Court Order

Legal name changes will change MyTCC portal login and email address. For support please contact the student help desk at support@6lwboc.com or by phone 253-566-5176.

This form can also be used to document any former legal names that may have been on file at other schools (i.e. transcripts from other schools coming to TCC for evaluation). You will need to submit your current legal identification with your request to document former names on your account.

Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation

Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation are voluntary self-disclosure fields. The primary purpose for collecting sexual orientation and gender identity information is to ensure inclusivity and success for all students at TCC. It is imperative to provide safe places for all students to be affirmed in their identity and learn in an environment free from harassment and discrimination. In addition, this data will assist TCC in providing services and creating programs and curriculum designed to support student success within the LGBTQIA+ community. To update your Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation select Student Homepage--> Profile--> Biographic Tab--> Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation

Legal Sex

Legal sex is defined by the Washington Adminsitrative Code (WAC) and ctcLink as the sex that appears on a person's birth certificate or driver's license (see WAC 246-490-075 or WAC 308-104-0150). Legal sex can only be updated by Enrollment Services. We are currently establishing a procedure to process changes to legal sex and will update this page soon with details.  Please note that this does not refer to a person's gender identity, which is a separate field in ctcLink.

If you would like to change the sex designation that appears on your birth certificate to match your gender identity, please visit the Washington State Department of Health website.

If you would like to change the sex designation that appears on your driver's license or state ID card (referred to as "gender designation" on these documents), please visit the Washington State Department of Licensing website.
